Tourist, Terrorist or Target Killers?

کالم :- Tauqir Ahmad

The recent killing of four American soldiers in lower Dir in bomb attack has started a new discussion in media as well as in the public. It is not yet confirmed if those four Americans were US Marines or they were the notorious Blackwater (XE) target killers.

Who ever they were but someone needs to give explanation about their presence in that

area as it is a serious security breach due to the fact that they were certainly not a tourist.

It has become a routine for the foreigners to move freely in No-Go or even restricted areas without having prior permission from the Ministry of foreign affairs. The main reason is that there is no control on the movement of foreigners although according to the rules they must get a No Objection Certificate (NOC) before visiting any places which even apply to diplomats but who care about the rules and regulations in Pakistan.

Our law enforcement authorities can only implement the laws if they are free from

political influence as well as foreign pressure.

The security situation in Pakistan has deteriorated since the 9/11 horrified incident and we are being dragged in to so-called war on terrorism which has cost us thousands of precious and innocent lives, causes billions of dollars loss annually, whereas the loss of 9/11 would be a peanut compare to this loss. Beside this tangible loss of innocent people and business decline in the valley, the most important and vital intangible loss of law and order situation is such an irreparable loss which is not only declining the foreign investment, trade but also giving an impression of insecurity and uncertainty in the region. We should recall those days when Pakistan was a peaceful country, without any suicide attacks, bombing and target killing of our security personnel.

Violation of domestic laws by these foreigners is basically the sheer weakness of the COD based Government and it’s the bitter truth that the Government is unable to react/protest against these violation. Publicly and in local media, the ministers and authorities protest against these violation whereas abroad in general and especially in front of US high officials, press high officials admire these violation and declare it as help to establish law and order situation viz a viz eliminating the terrorist. With such dual policy they can’t maintain law and order situation, their personal as well as Governmental credibility and on top of it their premier.

As a nation we must come out of the slavery, fight corruption and have to learn to stand on our own feet rather then begging and taking loans from other countries because this habit has made us loan addict. We can not just fill our reserves with loans and simply say that our reserves have gone up. We need to revise our policies as we have made more enemies than friend with those imported polices which are imposed on us.

We must unite as a nation beyond our political and religious differences to help our security personnel and law enforcement agencies to identify those culprits who are behind the disturbance in Pakistan as this the only way of our survival. As a matter of fact, no foreign agency can maintain and regulate the law and order situation in an alien country; it is the local law enforcing agencies that can ensure it. The foreign agency (official/unofficial) can only destabilize the situation, which these agencies are doing in Pakistan collectively.
